Singing, "Under The Sea"

Under The Sea

This is a 2-layer round Kake with a beach theme. The wave effect was created by using a fork to tease the frosting up from the kake.

The sea creatures were drawn on with tubed decorator's icing.

The island was made with a special pan used to make ball-shaped cakes. I used brown icinig gel to make the frosting a sandy color and then sprinkled crumbled graham crackers to give it an actual sandy . The boats were made out of dried apricots, toothpicks and fruit snacks for the sails. The palm trees are just a design created with icing on graham crackers.

25, The Musical

This is a 2-layer chocolate kake with buttercream frosting. The frosting was a light grey, sprinkled with edible glitter to give it a silvery look. The sides of the cake display the "Happy Birthday Song".

The Birthday girl requested a chocolate kake with silver, black and coral, her age and a music theme incorporated....Ta-Da!

Happy Anniversary to the Global Christian Network!

This was a 6-layer, 3-D, yellow globe kake with vanilla frosting. It was made for the Global Christian Network to celebrate their 5th anniversary. This kake was so tall and wide that it needed 3 wooden stakes to keep it secure from sliding and falling over.
I did my best to duplicate as many of the continents and countries that are on the globe- the ones I actually accomplished were North America, Central America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and a few islands. This was much more challenging than I had originally anticipated.

Since the kake is 3-D, the design goes all the way around it. The kake is in a globe because the network's logo is the letters "GCN" and a globe. I wanted to represent it the network as closely as possible to the actual logo.
Louis Vuitton, Anyone?

This kake was made for one of my closest friends for her birthday. It is a 2-layer lemon kake with lemon frosting....and it was TO DIE FOR!
She loves designer purses and brand names. We always joke with her about being shallow and materialistic so I wanted to make her a kake that represented this corky side of her. The inspiration came from the white Louis Vuitton design with colorful logos. I had originally wanted to do the classic brown design, however when she said she wanted a lemon kake, I knew that chocolate frosting was not going to be a good match.

- Birthday Boobies -

This is a single-layer chocolate kake with chocolateBold icing. The bra was designed with pink and white tube icing and pearl sprinkles. The straps of the bra were adorned with sugar diamonds that I received from a distributor who specializes in making them.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

This is a single-layer vanilla kake with vanilla frosting made for my God-Daughter for her 2nd birthday. Spongebob's design was done free-hand using a printed image for reference. Both regular and glittler/sparkle tube icing were used in this design.
I must say, I'm going to pat myself on the back for this one. I don't know what I could have done to make it look anymore like spongebob than it already did. :-)

Kitty Kakes in Demand!

September was an EXTREMELY busy month for me as far as Kake orders. There were so many birthdays and special events that I felt like I was doing a kake every few days!
Happy Birthday Kiki!

This is a single-layer red velvet kake with cream cheese frosting. Instead of dying the frosting, I used the frosting spray paint. I had never used this before and was concerned on how the frosting would taste.
I myself did not actually taste this kake, however I received a good report and so I am hoping that it did not alter the good flavor of the frosting.

Moscato, Please.

This kake was supposed to replicate this particular bottle of moscato wine. It is a 4-layer yellow kake with cream cheese frosting. the edges on the top of the kake were rounded off and the neck of the bottle was formed with scraps. I even added an actual wine bottle cork to the top on the neck.
The design was mainly done with icing, however some of the detail on the bottom of the bottle was done in icing pen in order to get a finer point. In my opinion, the bottle could have been a little slimmer in order to look more like a wine bottle, however it's width allowed me to be more detailed in replicating the design from the bottle.
Happy Retirement!

This kake was made for two counselors at a youth detention center who, together, had put in 65 years of work to the facility!
It is a single-layer yellow kake with cream cheese frosting. Each letter is an individual Kake carved into it's shape. The colored dots were confetti sprinkles I bought at a craft store in the Cake Decoration section. I thought they made the kake look rather festive and spunky.

Forever, I Love Atlanta.

This is a double-layer yellow kake with cream cheese frosting, made for a friend who was moving out of state for a new job position.
The frosting was dyed red but then sprayed with frosting spray paint to richen the red color. The rest of the design was created with tube decorative icing. The shape of the kake was carved out and not done with a heart-shaped pan.

Pizza Pie! No Wait, Pizza Kake.

This was made for the owner of a local pizza parlor in my area. His wife informed me of it very last minute (the night before, to be exact) and so it was not well thought out.
It is a double-layer yellow kake with cream cheese frosting. I used a brown gel icing to dye the "crust" a beige color. I wanted the "cheese" to look like some of it had melted into the "crust". I then topped it with "pepperoni, green peppers, and black olives"!
Not so bad with only 12 hour notice....

Peace, Love & Happiness

Ever Seen Tye-Dye Frosting? Yeah, Me Neither...

This Kake was a two-layered, yellow kake with cream cheese frosting. It was made for one of my co-workers, and when she asked if I could do tye-dye frosting I was hesitant but told her I would attempt it the best that I could.
In order to create the tye-dyed effect, I portioned off the frosting in several seperate bowls and dyed each one with a different color. I then placed the frosting on the cake in a swirl design and ran toothpicks through it in order to blend the colors into eachother.
I'm not claiming it's perfect, but hey, it's pretty decent for a first attempt. I also Cut out the Peace Sign Shape in the top layer to give it a 3-D effect.

For the sides of the Kake, I simply layered three colors and blended them with a spatula. I adorned the sides with black peace signs all around it to give it a little *pop*!

Slammin September

Tinkerbell

This Kake is a double-layered vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. The wings and hair are cut out while the bottom maintains a square form. I iced the entire cake with Vanilla frosting and then went over it with the decorative icing.
As all my kakes, the design was done free-hand while looking at a picture for reference; this may be why Tinkerbell looks a little chubby. ;-)
Muscle Man

My father spent 3 months doing the P90X workout routine and nutrition plan. At the end of it he requested I make him a yellow kake with chocolate frosting. I did my best to make it look like a torso and upperbody (including ab muscles), however I feel that what are suppose to look like buff shoulders- look more like female breasts. *shrugs* ....Trial & Error
Don't Worry, Be Happy.

Well, there's not much to explain here. I was asked to make a birthday kake for a friend of a friend who has a "hobby". It's made of a single layer yellow kake with cream cheese frosting and it's shape was carved free-hand.

ROLL TIDE!

I must say, I rather impressed myself with this one. Going into this project I had no idea what I wanted to do or how I was going to do it! The customer had sent me some images to inspire me, so I took a lil' bit from a few of them and this is what I came up with!
This is a single-layer red velvet kake with cream cheese frosting which I dyed burgundy and grey. The Elephant took quite a bit of time, as I was copying it from and image that I had printed out and was unsure exactly how it would translate onto the kake.
I was quite pleased with the outcome and have already received numerous requests for duplicate kakes from Alabama fans!

AKA...again.

This kake was made for a meeting for my director at my internship.
It is the AKA Ivy leaf bordered with 20 pearls. The design came from an image that she supplied me.
The kake is a single-layer pink strawberry kake with dyed cream cheese frosting. The pearls were made with white icing and then filled with pearlized sprinkles which I found at a craft store.

Burberry

Staff Appreciation
June 2010

This was a 2-layer yellow sheet cake for an appreciation luncheon. It caved in a little at the bottom, but the customer still loved it and didn't mind at all. (I had offered to make new cake or give it to her for a discounted price, however she liked it just the way it was.)
Burberry
June 2010

This was a 4-layer yellow cake with white icing which was dyed tan.

The customer's design was not specific; all that was requested is that the cake have a Burberry theme. I decided to make it look like a gift wrapped in Burberry wrapping paper.

The heighth and frosting made this cake quite heavy.

For all those lines to be drawn free-hand, I think I did a pretty good job considering my hand was cramping 1/4 of the way in.

Sushi

Sushi Roll
May 2010

This was a tw0-layer (8" round pans) strawberry cake wrapped in fruit leater to represent the nore and rice krispy treats to represent the rice. The mini rolls around the cake were made out of fruit snacks, candies and marshmallows. Everything was edible except for the chopsticks.

An assortment of "sushi rolls" surrounded the cake.

Had to trim the excess rice krispy treat which bordered the cake.

Sprinkled cookies n' cream sprinkles over the rice krispy treat to look like actual sushi rice.
