Cinco de Mayo Sombrero

Cinco de Mayo
Sombrero
May 2010

I was asked to make a sombrero for a Cinco de Mayo party at a medical office. My friend who asked me to make this cake said he wanted it to be hard and challenging so that I could try to create something I've never done before. This cake is a 3-D, 5 Layer, yellow cake with vanilla frosting. The top of the hat is 3 layers of 8" round cakes, while the brim in 2 layers of 15" square cake that was carved into an oval shape.

Kiss My A**

Booty!!
April 2010

This was a cake for a surprise birthday party. My friend was planning a party for her friend and when I asked what he liked/was interested in...she said, "booty!" So...here's a booty cake!
The dark spot to the left of the lips is just a spot on my camera lense that I cannot seem to correct. There are 3 sugar diamonds running down the crack of the thong.

This is a single layer chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Although the design is quite unique, it was pretty easy to shape. My friend later told me that Jazzy Phae was at the club where she threw the party, and he said, "I'd like a piece of that A**." when he saw the cake.

Another number cake. This one was a single layer, as opposed to the "23" which was a double layered cake.

As with all my cakes, the numbers were carved free-hand.

Pokémon- Lugia

Lugia
Happy Birthday Max!

My little brother just turned 10 in April. He is very much into Pokémon, so when I asked him what kind of cake he wanted, he had to show me a picture of this creature.

This is a single layer chocolate cake with white icing. I drew the Lugia freehand, so I think I made it look a little pregnant. I was pretty nervous to design this cake because I personally am not familiar with Pokémon or any of the characters and kids can be brutally honest. I thought if I messed it up, my brother would totally call me out on any errors- BUT my brother didn't seem to mind- he thought it was AWESOME! :)

The sides of the cake are completely colored with yellow icing in the "star tip"
